Euphemism Intent

Yesterday, I posted asking what you might think the euphemism, "I'm dropping a note to Mr. Adams", might mean.

And here's the source and the intent:

From 1776:

"Dear Mr. Adams: I am taking my wife back to bed. Kindly go away. Y'r ob'd't, T. Jefferson."

Of course, daisy_knotwise and I are serious 1776 junkies. :)
