Up On the Housetop

We are now valiantly trying to get Katie and Julie to go to bed so Santa can come. Julie is asleep. Katie is in bed -- mostly! -- and is chattering to me through her open doorway.

Sooner or later, her batteries will run out...

I have done my bit for Christmas subversion by teaching the girls the version of "Jingle Bells" that I learned when I lived on Guam and which I now present for you here:

Jungle bells,
Coconut shells,
Stickleburrs all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a caribou cart today!
Jungle bells,
Coconut shells,
Stickleburrs all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a caribou cart today!

Here we are on Guam,
Without a hope of snow.
Under spreading palms
A typhoon's sure to blow.
Santa's sure to know
What tropics will allow.
Instead of riding eight reindeer
He'll ride a caribou.

Merry Christmas everyone!
