Speaking of which... I meant to talk to you about Cap while we were at InCon, but then time kinda got away. This weekend has likewise gotten away in a blur of fire department runs. If things settle a bit, I may call you this evening...
Hi. My name was nobody. And I am damned glad that I care about what, and how, you think. I wanted everyone to like me, because as a nobody, I was not entitled to my own opinions having value. Oh, wait- you listened to my opinions. You were always interested in discourse, debate, and discussion between reasoning beings. You supported your thoughts and beliefs with your experience, wit, and an extremely sharp and detailed intelligent world model that you keep in your head. </p>
And through our relationship, you were one of the people who helped teach me how to stand straight. By example, how to treat people with respect, even when I think they are somewhere in left field. (You also helped teach me that coming out of left field, either literally in pro baseball, or in debate, can be a powerful tool for positive change).
You are an example to me on how to be 'somebody', not just a 'nobody'. I can go on- but at the end of the day it all boils down to the fact that from me, you not only put up with, but earned the title, "Dad".
Yer distant and semi-adopted son (Who only reads LJ once in a blue moon these days....)
(Or perhaps I would say that fundamentally, nobody really cares what anybody thinks.)
But anyway, point was, I do.

I disagree with you on a lot of issues, but I'll still listen when you talk.
I like hearing your stories of work projects, recording projects, and trips to baseball games.
