I actually managed to finish a song before Boskone, for which I blame daisy_knotwise. We had headed out for a lunch unaccompanied by little girls and while on the road there, she commented about how names have power. And I realized that I could hang a perfectly fine song on that concept. Thus, I had a new song for the con... :) Words and Music: Bill Roper Copyright 2014
Taking Down Your Names
There’s power in your name. There’s magic there that I can tame And though you hold it close to you, I’m creeping closer still. And I will take control. I’ll steal your name and steal your soul. It isn’t all that hard to do And I have got the will.
(Chorus) I’m taking down your names. One by one, they’ll fall. I’m playing at my games. I’ll own you when I’ve taken down them all.
You’ve got names to spare, One name here and one name there, Bound together in a web That all leads back to you. It isn’t hard to see That every name’s another key. And I will flow and you will ebb. You’ll never have a clue.
(Bridge) Names that you no longer know. Names you haven’t used for years. Helpless, watch my power grow. I’m the sum of all your fears.
Names and numbers dance. I won’t give you a second chance. What I want is what you’ve got And what you’ve got I’ll take. I’m erasing every line. All that once was yours is mine. I am you and you are not And you will never wake.
(Chorus twice) I’ll own you when I’ve taken down them all.
