And It Rained

Having filled my previous scorebook, I grabbed one of the new ones that I'd acquired recently and set out for today's Cubs / Dodgers game at Wrigley Field, where I met my friend, Marnie. The last time that I took a brand-new scorebook to a game that I was going to with Marnie, it was a Cubs / White Sox game that was rained out before it started. The scorebook never quite recovered.

This game, it just rained. For about four innings with just enough coming through the gap between the upper and lower decks to make things a bit wet. Happily, Marnie loaned me the tote bag that she'd brought with her to carry her rain gear in, so the scorebook stayed drier than it might have otherwise.

The conversation was good. The Cubs, for most of the game, not so much, falling way behind early.

And then a rally broke out. The Cubs scored four in the seventh and two in the eighth to win 8-7. Whee!

Tonight, the Cards beat the Reds and the Brewers beat the Pirates, so the Cards magic number to clinch the division is down to five.

Fingers remain crossed. :)
