Summer Vacation: Day 1

I worked. :)

Gretchen, on the other hand, finally got to sleep in.

Katie had a sleepover at her friend's house that lasted until 6 PM. Then she came home and immediately fell into her own bed asleep, which suggests that there was a shortage of sleep at the sleepover. I am not surprised.

Julie hung out, watched TV, and was ferried by her mother to the swimming pool.

Ruby the Dog chased the ball. And the bubbles from the bubble machine that Gretchen had acquired. And lay around. And then it was nearly time for bed and I smelled the unmistakable aroma of skunk wafting through the open back door. I called Ruby without much luck, but shaking her bag of Ruby Snacks got her to hurl herself through the open door -- remarkably, smelling like dog and not skunked dog.

So far, so good.
