Bill Roper's Journal
The Other Guy
5th-Jan-2006 04:01 pm
The other Bill Roper is the developer of the World of Warcraft game. I've occasionally been given credit for his work in a bio, but I hadn't seen things going in the other direction until I read the recently-added Wikipedia entry that noted that he'd been active in filk for over 20 years and was a member of the Filk Hall of Fame.

Of course, one of the good things about Wikipedia is that you can fix this sort of thing. And I did.

Updated it so the link to Windycon would work. You are also linked from the ISFiC Press page. However, the Bill Roper page should probably be split into two different pages Bill Roper (developer) and Bill Roper (filker). Yes, I know both would describe you, but...

Most probably "game developer" in the first case.

Thanks for the patch. I thought I'd tested the WindyCon link...

Sorry, Bill, I'm the one who edited the article... I had read multiple bios at conventions you were at that said you were the voices of Warcraft, and was at least one where you were introduced as such while you were in the room. This isn't true? Bill Roper the voices of Warcraft isn't a filker?

He's not that I know of. I have seen con bios that confuse the two of us, but I usually try to fix them up. :)

Hey, as a result I have my own Wikipedia entry now, so it works for me!
