Weekend Update

Walked five miles this morning, ending up at the Randhurst Mall food court, where I grabbed a Diet Pepsi (21 cents tax on a $1.24 purchase? Say what?) and daisy_knotwise picked me up so I could go home and clean up before lunch.

After lunch, I spent a couple of hours in the basement fighting with the external USB/SATA/RAID drive before concluding that the unit (and the hard drives it contains) appear to be just fine. It's just that the system doesn't want to talk to it via SATA. USB works. Now, since the laptop finds the SATA drive through its SATA interface, this led me to suspect the SATA card in the studio computer. So, on our way to daddy_guido and cary_lee's for dinner and to drop off Gretchen's old sewing desk, we swung by CompUSA where I grabbed a new SATA card and a combo USB 2.0 / Firewire card, since the studio computer has neither. (USB 1.1, yes. 2.0, no.)

Dinner with Guido, Cary, and the kids was wonderful fun. We chatted briefly with tarkrai on the way home, where he's pretty exhausted between work and Ren Faire.

And, in a few minutes, you can link over to Gretchen's LJ where you can see the pictures of the baby quilt she made for one of her co-worker's kids.
