Father's Day at Wrigley Field

Bob Tjarks (my audio pusher and fellow baseball fan) invited Gretchen and I to join him and his brother for brunch at the Cubs Stadium Club before today's Cubs game. *urp* And it was a fine brunch.

This was followed by a fine Cubs win -- 5 to 3 over the Oakland A's -- on a perfect day for baseball. And since it was Father's Day, the park was filled with fathers and their sons and daughters, including Jerry, who owns Hot Dog Island, and his daughter, Alyse, in the other pair of our seats.

It was a good day.

And I'm still full.

(Unfortunately, the Cards lost, but they did take 2 out of 3 from the Reds and remain 2 in front of the Cubs. And Ken Griffey, Jr. hit his 500th career home run today, getting a nice standing ovation from the St. Louis fans, even if he was on the opposing team. But the Cards reputedly have the best fans in baseball. The Cubs fans do fairly well, but they still suffer from the folks who treat the place as the world's largest outdoor beer garden.)
