The thing that I should be doing this weekend is finishing up the taxes. And I will do that this weekend. Apparently tomorrow.
Today, I ventured down into the basement and moved the old shelves that were standing in the middle of the space beneath the dining room where
Gretchen convinced Katie to nap in her crib for about an hour, as we started filling in the rest of the space -- unfortunately, she needed to do some complex cuts, so Katie woke up before we were done. I brought her down and held her while Gretchen finished up the section. Then we headed out for dinner at Sweet Baby Ray's.
When we came back, I grabbed our new vacuum cleaner and hauled it downstairs to vacuum the carpet, which was looking pretty awful. After a brief pass, I dialed it down for low carpet.
Wow! It hunkered down and grabbed the carpet. The beater brush knocked the dirt loose and the vacuum sucked it away. That's how these things are supposed to work. The carpet looks better than it did when it was installed at Alcar.
After that, I walked all the cabinets back to where they belonged. Then Gretchen and Katie came down to help me put everything back into the cabinets where it belongs.
The space is now looking remarkably like a room.
