Bye, Bye, Mets
30th-Sep-2007 11:56 pm
Having learned to hate the Mets when they and the Cardinals were both busy being good in the 1980s and having moved to Chicago where they still haven't forgiven the Mets for taking advantage of the Cubs' 1969 collapse, it was nice to see the Mets perform a historic collapse of their own, blowing a 7 game lead with 17 games to go. Not quite as good as the Phillies (who took advantage of this year's Mets collapse) who blew a 6.5 game lead with 12 games left in 1964, allowing the Cards to advance to and win the World Series, but a quite satisfying collapse nevertheless.

And we are now safe from the danger of another Subway Series. :)

Not being a Cubs, Cards or Mets fan, none of that really matters to me... but we do have the 2 teams with the longest championship drought in the playoffs again this year. Everyone knows about the Cubbies, but the Indians are the 2nd longest having not won since 1948.

Go Tribe!!!

I'm a Braves fan so I'm loving the Mets' choke. We've sure had our fair share of choking in the post season. I'm not sure who I'm pulling for now, but I prefer the National League to the American.

I grew up in NYC, a Mets fan from their first season.

After graduate school I lived in the Boston area for over 20 years, rooting for the Red Sox except when they played the Mets, and happy as hell when they finally broke the Curse.

For five years I've been living in Philadelphia.

Maybe my next job will be in Chicago?
