There were some problems with the hearing test yesterday, but they appear to have been problems with the equipment (as the nurses suspected at the time). Today, Juliana passed the newborn hearing test with flying colors. Yay!
After lunch, daisy_knotwise took Katie back to the hotel for a nap while I sat with Julie in the family lounge. (The hospital really isn't set up for a situation where the intended parents aren't the same as the ones who gave birth to the baby.) Our gestational carrier and her husband came by earlier in the day when I invited them down; then later, when she was checking out of the hospital with her two young kids in tow, which gave them a chance to meet the baby who'd spent nine months in their mommy's tummy.
I spent much of the afternoon holding Julie and occasionally feeding her while I read Old Man's War -- certainly an interesting juxtaposition. Gretchen got back with Katie just as I finished the novel. I ordered in pizza for dinner and we spent the rest of the evening convincing Katie that Julie was just a bit too fragile for her to play with yet.
Now we're back at the hotel and Gretchen is trying to get Katie to fall asleep.
So far, so good.
