Twice In 24 Hours

A group of our friends went to see the touring company for the musical version of Young Frankenstein tonight down in the Loop. daisy_knotwise decided that she'd just as soon stay home with the girls, but that I was welcome to join them, so I did. It's a fun show, although I can see why it had some problems on Broadway, mostly because of the audience being too familiar with the material. But the audience and the cast had a good time. Brad Oscar, who played Inspector Kemp, reminded me distinctly of Randy Hoffman.

The show that Gretchen has been wanting to see is Jersey Boys. The Chicago company of the show has been here for a long time (over a million people have seen it here), but it's closing on January 10th. I've been trying to figure out how to get her to the show, but it's been hard with the girls. I talked to our friend, samwinolj, who agreed to babysit on the Sunday after Christmas, which seemed like a good time to try to go.

It turned out that everyone else thought so too. Good seats weren't to be found. Drat.

However, there were good seats for tomorrow's matinee. So Sam will be kindly coming out to watch Katie and Julie tomorrow afternoon (which will, no doubt, break their hearts when they have to spend time with their Uncle Sam) and Gretchen and I will head down to the Loop to see the show. And I will see two major musical productions in a 24 hour period. :)

Thanks, Sam!
