You've Got To Know When to Fold Them
30th-Sep-2011 11:17 pm
The really sturdy new ladder that I ordered arrived via UPS today. I opened it up and looked at it and promptly sent it back.

It turns out that once you open the ladder, you can't close the ladder. The braces on each side lock permanently. This means that you have to find somewhere that you can store the unfolded ladder.

That's not happening, so the ladder went back.

At least I should only be out the shipping. :)

Tony bought a HD ladder from Lowes or Home Depot - it does fold up and is good to 450 lbs I think...

...why would anyone make an un-refoldable ladder? O_o

Ease of shipping?

True! But the un-ease of storage would seem to be a bit of a nuisance, too!

This is not a feature -- it is a design flaw.
